Jacksonville based music artist Greg “The IGive” East is an energetic and prolific independent Hip Hop emcee, spoken word artist, host and motivational speaker. Armed with a powerful message of spreading love and not hate, The IGive seeks to touch as many individuals as he can with his brand of positive, progressive, yet relatable Hip-Hop.
An institution in Duval County’s Hip-Hop and Spoken Word communities, The IGive is the host of The Cypher Open Mic Poetry & Soul, Northeast Florida's top open mic spoken word venue. He is one of the few artists that have been able to successfully traverse both the hip-hop and spoken word crowds while remaining authentic to himself and the culture. His all-inclusive approach to making music more than likely contributed to this triumph, as evidenced by his debut album’s, Rhythm & Poetry, effortless blending of Hip-Hop, poetry and Soul music. An ambitious and thought provoking project, The IGive and his main producer, Ill Clinton, take the listener on a journey through the mind of The IGive as he tackles everything from the loss of loved ones, spreading unity or addressing issues that the urban community face. The IGive has collaborated with some of the most respected Hip-Hop, spoken word artists and producers in Jacksonville. Recently, The IGive,label mate Takara Houston,and fellow Jacksonville hip-hop artist and DJ Mr. Al Pete teamed up with illClinton to record and perform a tribute song for the anniversary of the home going of the late James Yancey Dewittaka J.Dilla. Other notable collaborations by The IGive include spoken word artist and host Moses West (“GiveLove” with R & B singer Aaron Jackson and poet LoveReigns), producer Dorian “Denzity” Lopez (“RememberU” hit single on WJBT 93.3 the Beat Jamz)and R & B soul singer Monica Monet (“If Sun Don’t Shine”), who he also collaborated with for her Nappy Halo Volume 1 album (“Feelin’You” & “OldSchool” with IlldotLogic). And his hit single, “ Not Hate”, featuring Kia Nicole, received comfortable spins on IRIE 105.7 and 105.3 ISM Radio; as well as his smash single “RememberU” featuring Aaron Jackson received nightly spins on WJBT 93.3 the Beat Jamz with radio personality Easy E. A dynamic and entertaining performer, The IGive has opened for JanaMorae Bradley’s stageplay, Blak.Woman.Dynamik and appeared in her independently produced film, Treacherous. His entertainment company, GiveLove Entertainment, successfully brought The Floacist of UK Soul/Hip-Hop group, Floetry to Jacksonville for alive performance. In January of 2010, he was honored along with 3 other artists, who also released ground breaking material in 2009, dubbed The Fantastic Four, The IGive and his peers performed to an enthusiastic, standing room only audience at Poppy Love Smoke Cigar and Wine Bar in Downtown Jacksonville. The IGive has appeared onThe CW’s local program “Your Jax Music” hosted by Jake McCain over 3 times (hosting an episode on one occasion), and has performed in numerous festivals in the South east from the Savannah Urban Arts Festival in Savannah, GA to the World of Nations Celebration in Jacksonville, FL.
